This week we’ll look at how to use ArchiCAD’s structure by applying several guiding principles.
Part 1 is a 35 minute lesson on how to model in 3D so well that you have very little clean-up or additional linework to add in 2D to create sections and elevations for your construction documents.
Part 2 is a 16 minute lesson on the use of “placeholders” (generic, simple versions of walls, windows, doors etc.) during early design, which are later reworked to be more specific at the appropriate time.
Part 3 is a 31 minute lesson that demonstrates how proper referencing and anchoring of elements will help ArchiCAD maintain your design intent.

Hi Debbie –
I think the video I was referring to is on my YouTube channel here:
ArchiCAD Tutorial | Material Schemes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfA0ODKCLOY
In this video I show how you can save different versions of your materials using Attribute Manager, then swap them in whenever you wish (perhaps to quickly show a client different options). Check out this video and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Eric,
Am working my way through Week 10 and in the 2nd video – Work from the General to the Specific – you say that you will put a link to another video you have made that deals specifically with Materials. Not sure where to find that link….
I have been using ArchiCAD since version 10. There is a lot in your videos that I am very familiar with but then you throw in a Gem that I have not thought of before or somehow missed in my travels. So I watch every video and skip nothing… The hours and the money are definitely worth it for me… so THANK YOU!
